Description
Set of 32 Edwardian sterling silver plates. Made by Durgin (part of Gorham) in Concord, 1927-1929. This set comprises 16 dinner plates and 16 bread and butter plates. Each: Round plain well and tapering shoulder with framed garlands and shells alternating with leafing scrolls and pendant flowers; rim reeded. Elegant and restrained.All fully marked with Brand-Chatillon retailer's stamp. All dinner plates have Durgin maker's stamp, no. 6/1, and Gorham date symbol (5 for 1927, 8 for 1928, and 3 for 1929). Twelve bread and butters plates have Durgin maker's stamp, no. 60/1, and Gorham date symbol for 1928. Four bread and butter plates have Graff, Washbourne & Dunn maker's stamp and five-pointed star.
Excellent condition. Dimensions: Each dinner: H 1/2 x D 11 in. Each bread and butter: H 3/8 x D 7 in. Very heavy total weight: 465 troy ounces. #BR810
